February and March and someone turned 9!

February was filled with basketball and flag football.  Maks this was your first time playing flag football and you had a blast.  It was especially fun because you got to play with your best bud and neighbor Alex.  You guys rocked the Seahawks!

You are definitely a defensive player, you knew how to throw a good block out there when needed!  I think you found a sport you love, plus your team did great and won the championship!  You were very proud of your medal!  It was a lot of fun watching you play and hopefully you will be playing again this fall.

So the month of Alek arrived, March, your favorite time of the year!  We started off your birthday week with a trip to see the Harlem Globetrotters.  I cannot believe you are turning 9--it is crazy!!!  We need to slow time down.

You, mommy, Xander and Brandy went out to dinner and then to the Globetrotters.  It was a blast, they are so much fun and you guys loved it.

On your actual birthday you were requesting ribs for dinner, so instead of trying to cook them on a weekday we went out.
Actually first you requested crabs and lobster tail, but then we asked you if you could scale it back a little!  You have expensive taste in food!  We had a great dinner and awesome dessert, and mommy was happy she didn't have to cook.

Best of all you finally got your iPod touch that you helped save for and have been wishing for for a long time.  You love jamming to music and sending a text to everyone in your family.  It is so cute watching you Facetime with Pop and Noni or LaLa or me from the next room.  We know you will take care of it, since you earned it!

Between all the sports and craziness of activities we toned down the party stuff this year with one kid party at our house with Maks, your school buddies and Xander.  It was insanity. I am not sure what mommy and daddy were thinking.

10 boys for 4 hours, even the parents dropping off thought we were insane. I think we should have made it 3 hours?  Anyway, you guys had a blast.  First up was nerf battles in the backyard, there were nerf bullets everywhere!
Then you guys broke into teams and had a basketball game under the lights with daddy as referee.
Then it was pizza time. Which was followed up by music and craziness in the basement. You guys had on your glo bracelets and were jamming in the dark to music and playing tag.  If I heard Gangham Style one more time I thought I would lose my mind!
After that chaos, daddy built a fire and we all made smores, that was a big hit with everyone.  Of course Maky loves to set his smarshmellows on fire and you work at yours carefully.  It was one sticky mess out there!

After that, we headed in for birthday cake and give our props to the guy of the hour!
You guys finally chilled out and watched Wreck it Ralph untill all the parents came.  But best of all you got to have your two best buds (and Maky) have a sleep over, so Liam and Xander stayed the night.
You were exhausted the next day but it was worth it!
So instead of having a family party you got to see people throughout the week.
It was great seeing TT as she was home from school and came over with LaLa and Jakey to visit.
Then we met Granmom and Poppy at Dave and Busters for dinner and games.  Of course you guys loved it, you and Poppy won alot of tickets with your basketball games!
Since mommy and daddy were going to Savannah the weekend after you would have a weekend of celebration with Pop and Noni and we know you will be spoiled, too spoiled, but that update is for the next post!

So happy 9th birthday my sweet boy.  Even though we are heading into these uncharted waters of attitude and independence, you are still an amazing kid who we love to the moon and back!  You are tough some days but make up for it the next with your snuggling and sweetness.  Promise you will always be a mama's boy in some way!
You are tough and courageous and will try anything.  You are creative and love to doodle and draw cartoon characters.
You have some serious rhythm and can bust a move with anyone!
You tried hard playing the violin but as you said, it really isn't your thing, I am glad you made an effort though!
You still love reading and love getting new books.  Writing is not your favorite part of school, but you love math, science and social studies.
You report cards are great and we are proud of your achievements!
You are a good big brother, for the most part, but of course brothers like to battle. But you can tell how much Maks looks up to you and loves you.
We are so proud to be your parents and look forward to what year 9 and beyond brings!
Happy birthday big guy!!
