Field trip

The boys had their school field trip Thursday to a local farm for some pumpkin pickin fun. It was a pretty cold morning. We took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch and searched for the best one. Then it was back on the hayride and over to the maze. The maze was pretty cool, you finish by climbing up to a slide and that is how you get out. It was cute, all the kids would be lined up at the bottom high fiving everyone that came down.
Afterwards it was inside for an ice cream treat. The kids, parents and teachers all seemed to have a great time.
It was a great way to lead up to Halloween!

WE WIN!!!!

I think I am still in shock, we are World Series Champs! The curse is over!! What a crazy and exciting series. I am so glad it is over, I don't think I could have taken much more!
We let the kids stay up since it was a short game. Party Animal Alek was out like a light within a half hour, Maks hung in there, he didn't care about the game, just kept trying to scam more milk or juice out of me.
It was exciting, but out here in the burbs, it is just not the same, too quiet. I miss Roxborough! Called to talk to Meem who was so excited and I could hear the celebration and fireworks going on outside her house.
I opened our door and could hear some car horns and fireworks off in the distance. Boring up here!
Had a hard time going to sleep, just stayed up and watched all the post game fun!
Managed to get some sleep as we had the boys field trip for school to another pumpkin patch! Had to have some energy to accompany 30+ preschool to kindergartners to the farm.
I will have those pictures and story in another post.
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!

Just one more...

The Phillies need just one more...What a crazy series this has been...could we actually win it? All I know is I can't take much more of this!!!
In other news, school pics are in. Maks was giving us the cheese smile and not his gorgeous, natural smile, so I am a little disappointed. Oh and his hair, Kevin has given me grief over not cutting it. I guess it is a little long, we seem to be moving into the Irish fro stage...
Definitely happy with Alek's pictures, he cooperated, amazing what a year can do!

If only it were so simple

Alek's class was learning about the election and government this week.

So he came home to tell us that today at school, "kids vote".

He went on to explain that two guys were running for "resident". One was John McCain and the other was "Rock mybama".

I asked him who he voted for and he said "Rock mybama" because he has a cool name. So funny!

He asked me if John McCain was a PopPop, I told him I was unsure, but we could look it up. I asked him why he was asking this and he said, well because he looks like one.

Maybe kids should vote, it would keep it alot simpler.

Party down on the Farm

Yesterday was Maks' 3rd birthday party. It was a blast and we couldn't ask for better fall weather. What a gorgeous day it was.
We started the day at MerryMead Farms for hayride and cornstalk mazes. Maks was in his farmers hat and ready to go. The kids had a great time. The maze was insane! I went in with all the kids and everyone else manned the exits. The boys were running all through the maze, Maks kept trying to eat the corn off the stalks. I thought I had control of everyone except when I got out, we realized Maks was still in there! Back in I went and there was Maks stealing more corn!
We all went back to our house for food, fun and cake. The kids all had a blast playing together, the highlight was the pinata and mad dash for candy of course. I know my two didn't sleep that great last night, so I am sure there were other restless households as well!
It was a wonderful day and we are so thankful to all that came to share Maks' special day!

2 year post placement report

THEN

(First trip, sad face and not feeling that great)

Today was our 2 year post placement, it is so surreal that we only have one of these left! To me it is sad, I don't find them to be a hassle (well maybe the cost), but the process itself. It is like a brag session and it is easy to brag about Maks. When I look back on the photos and videos of him in Russia to now, the difference is amazing. There is so much light and life in his eyes and it has been so cool to watch his personality grow and develop. He is a red head for sure!

NOW
(What an amazing smile and what a ham!)

Look who is 3!

Maks is 3! Cannot believe two years ago today we met him for the first time! He wasn't feeling too great on his first birthday and wound up in the hospital before we left. Well he decided to relive those times as we wound up in the ER very early this morning with a bad case of croup!

Yesterday morning he had his well visit and was doing fine. Checked in at 38.5 inches and 32 pounds, had a real big growth spurt and is now in the 75% for height!
He got his flu shot as well. Later in the day with joined C and the girls and Megs at a Fall Fest. He started coughing towards the end of that and by dinner had classic seal bark cough. By the time I got home he had a fever. he sounded wheezy so I gave him some albuterol, first time he has needed that in a LONG time. We went to sleep and at 4 am he was very restless and I could tell he was getting warm again. I turned the lights on and he was breathing hard and fast and his lips were blue tinged as well as his fingertips. That was enough for me, so off we went. He had a 103.9 fever when we got to the ER! Thankfully his lungs were pretty clear and it was just bad case of croup. He did good after some treatment and a shot of decadron.
Poor little man, not the way you want to spend your birthday.
He perked up as the day went on, but he was clingy and tires easily. Hoping we have a decent night though!
His party is next Saturday, so we celebrated with his dinner request: ham, broccholi and mac and cheese (homemade by daddy). I threw in some shrimp cocktail, his other favorite. One of the nurses sang Happy Birthday to him, and he said he wanted to chocolate cake. So I had to run to the bakery and get some chocolate cake for the king, well a cupcake would suffice!.

So Happy birthday Maks!! We love you to pieces and we love that we get to celebrate your birthday and your Metcha day all together!
On another note: GO PHILLIES!!!!!

Falling for Autumn Fun

We made our first (of many) trips to MerryMead Farm on Sunday for Harvest Days. The boys were excited to spend the day with Jess and Emily. We did it all, hay rides, cornstalk maze, moon bounces, pumpkin pickin, painting, games, and face painting, not to mention ice cream, popcorn and fries!
It was a great day capped off by a big Phillies win (we won't mention the Eagles).

Kevin has moved onto another project, doing the groundwork for our new hot tub which should be arriving shortly-we can't wait. So the boys were big helpers! Maks just needs to watch his step!

I've been tagged

I have been tagged by Patti

6 Random things about me:

1.) I love shoes, can't get enough of them, my favorites are Donald Pliner and Tory Burch right now. I miss all those Tretorn sneakers I had, every color, would love them back now.

2.) I still love peanut butter and fluff (fluffernutter) sandwiches, it is really the only way I will eat peanut butter.

3.) I still love Rick Springfield and have many of his songs on my iPod.

4.) I am waging a war against the stink bugs invading my house. Alek is my hunter, he finds them and flushes them down the toilet for me each night.

5.) I still have a nervous habit of biting my nails.

6.) I secretly wish I was a Broadway diva (fat chance given the fact I am tone deaf, but a girl can dream)!

If I tag you, here are the rules!!!
1. Link to the person that tagged you.
2. Post the rules on the blog.
3. Write six random facts about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post.
5. Let each person know they have been tagged.
6. Let the taggers know when your entry is up.

You are up girls!

Go Phillies!

The boys are ready to cheer on the Phillies! I told them Daddy was going to the game today.
So they were watching the game and saying, Go Phillies, Go Daddy!
Guess they thought he was on the team.
So excited for the Game 1 win.
What was fun this weekend was watching the Mets choke once again! Gotta love it!
