We are in the midst of the countdown to Christmas and have tried to squeeze in some holiday fun!
Chief, our early Christmas present has kept us all busy for sure!
Mommy feels bad because it seems like this holiday season has flown by quick without doing some of the special activities or trips I wanted to do with you guys. Back in October I had all these grand plans and then it was Thanksgiving and next thing you know we have 10 days left til Christmas! I always tell you guys I want to find that button that slows everything down!
But despite my failure at getting us out to new adventures, we have had some fun. We finally adopted an Elf on the Shelf which guys named Flash. Flash is pretty chill, he winds up in some cool places, up high so he can keep a good eye on you both! Thankfully he doesn't seem to a mischievious Elf, though Maks you hope he will be like the leprechaun that comes every March! It is still early though, hopefully Flash doesn't wreak too much havoc on this house.
Alek you have been in the midst of basketball and are doing well, we can totally see the improvement in your game and I think your speed and agility training is helping! Your team won its first game last weekend and you looked pretty good!
Maks you are wrapping up your gymnastics session. They evaluated you and said you were ready for the team. But since your age group practices right after school for 1.5 hours we all thought you probably were not ready for that yet. What you have asked for though, we have found..dodge ball classes!! So fun, you will start that in January!
So last Friday after a long week of work, I rushed home early so we could all go look for our tree. You guys had secret holiday shoppe at school and were excited to show me what you had bought. I wanted to help you hide the presents and wrap them, but you were so excited to give me mine. I spent the drive home crying over the tragedy that occurred at the school in CT, which we all talked about later that weekend. I had just wanted to get home and wrap my arms around you both, so your excitement over the presents was so sweet. Alek you gave me a box which held a beautiful heatr shaped "diamond" necklace. Well mommy burst out in tears--sorry about that buddy! But like I told you, they were happy tears. That was so sweet and you told me how much you loved me. How much good that did my heart.
Maks you gave me this awesome MOM picture frame, I cannot wait to put a picture of the 3 of us in it and show it off at work! The hugs you gave me were awesome! So after all that excitment, we packed Chief up and headed out to look for a tree.
The first place we went, really didn't have much of a selection. Well mommy is a little picky about her tree. It has to be the perfect frazier fur. So we walked around and struck out. Then we decided to head back to the place we went last year.
It worked out perfectly. We were the only ones there at the moment and the guy had his dogs out. So Chief got to play with a couple doggies and so did you guys. While daddy, Chief and I went in search of the tree, you guys were running all around with the dogs having a blast. We finally found the perfect tree, said good bye to our new doggie friends and headed home for our yearly tradition. Pizza and watching Christmas Vacation. Daddy and I have been doing this for 15 years!! You guys watched about half the movie with us before you lost interest and headed upstairs. It was fun though.
Later that weekend we decided to "bake", yes bake, well break and bake since mommy doesn't bake. Sometimes I wish I could be one of those awesome moms who bakes amazing cookies and can decorate them beaitufully, but alas I am not. So we rolled out some pillsbury sugar cookie dough and the cookie cutters people have left at my house and had fun. We sang along to Christmas music. It was a lot of fun!!
Loved your decorating skills, crazy and wild snowmen!! Needless to say the cookies were not the most delish, but good enough.
It was fun so that is what counts. Maks I think you were trying to make your snowman look like a ninja!
And classic Maks, no shirt on but I guess that is good, less mess to clean up!!
Chief has just mushed himself into our family. He is so much fun and it is crazy how big he is getting each day. He is doing so well and is a good boy. He loves waking you guys up in the morning, by pouncing on your bed and licking your faces. I love that you wake up laughing!
Alek you are a big help with Chief especially in the morning. You watch him while I get ready, you help take him out. You guys are becoming buds. Maks you love him too but seem to like to come in and get him all riled up and then leave us with the mess!!
But you do like snugging with Chief and daddy on the couch, how cozy is that?!?
Monday, we finally got out to see the Big Guy. Except your first comments when you saw Santa this year, is that he shrunk! Maks you even told Santa he looked smaller. Thankfully Santa was quick on his feet and said, well you guys got bigger. So no more siting on Santa's lap but right next to him.
You both told him you wanted Pokemon cards. He told you that was a popular request this year. It is funny to see what you ask for each year. Maks your list is classic. First thing on it: a "money maker that turns a penny into a dollar bill", starting your counterfeiting career early!
Alek you have asked for a dog-which you got, pokemom cards and books.
After Santa, we had a lovely dinner at McDonalds--your special treat!! Then we did a holiday lights tour, checking out all the nice displays in the neighborhoods. We ended at the coolest one. You guys loved it. You could press buttons and watch the music and characters dance.
It was fun to watch you guys dance around to the music and your eyes light up when you noticed something new. There was so much to look at and take in. You loved it and said this is the best house ever!! Alek you said, "this is cool, but it wouldn't be fun to be their neighbors". You sound like daddy!
The Phillies train set up was a favorite and you guys each got to write your name in the guest book and write down what you thought. You both wrote AWESOME!!
The holiday light tour was a success and we packed alot of fun into a weekend.
We still had to finish decorating our tree. The lights on the tree and the mantle made our living room look so pretty, but we needed to finish up with the ornaments and make sure Chief stayed away from any special ones!
We are down to one week until the big day! Lots to do and lots more fun to be had!!
It is so great that we have Chief with us this year, it should make opening presents very interesting!!
Alek and Maks, you guys are life, my heart and my happiness. After this week of sadness in the news and having to explain to you guys how bad things can happen sometimes, my heart gets so heavy. Life is so fragile and I hope one thing you can learn is to live with no regrets, always remember how much you love each other and how important family is. I hope you always remember to treat each other with kindess and respect and to forgive and live life to the fullest.
I know these are lessons mommy and daddy are remembering and I know we have been and will be holding you guys a little tighter and closer everday.
We love seeing those smiling eyes and beautfiul faces every day. You are the best things that have ever happen to us and we look forward to another wonderful holiday taking in all the excitement and joy of the season through your eyes!
We believe in the magic of the season and we can't wait to see what the New Year has in store for us all!
