Wow July, summer is flyin by! Boys are having a blast at the different camps and I daydream at work about winning the lottery so we can spend all our days living near the beach!
We spent a hot and sunny July 4th celebrating at the Skippack parade and watching our friends take part in it. As with any parade the boys were perched on the curb waiting to pounce on the candy being thrown, they definitely stocked up!
After the parade we headed back their house for a late lunch and some fun. Then we headed back to our neighbors to cool off in the pool. It was a busy and fun day. Best part, I was off the following two days, worst part, Alek was in basketball camp and didn't want to bail on camp and head to the beach early.
He threw me a bone and let me pick him up early on Friday and we headed off to Pop and Noni's for the weekend.
We enjoyed the rest of the day lounging on the beach, playing in the water and looking for sea glass. Alek is the best sea glass spotter.
Saturday was so hot, crazy hot. Alek and I managed to get some time in at the beach in the morning, there was a nice breeze and the water was perfect. But pretty soon the heat became insane, so we trudged back to the house. After lunch it was shopping with Noni who spoiled the boys as always at Target. They kept busy back at the house with legos.
At night it was still hot but we watched the South Bowers fireworks from the deck. They get better each year!!
Back at home Kevin and I (well more so me) caved and I let him buzz Maks' hair. Maks had been asking for it for so long, but I couldn't bear to see those curls go. It was hard watching his beautiful hair hit the floor. He does look cute, though I would prefer the curls. Maks loves it, so him and Alek are buzz buddies!! The bonus is I can spray their heads easy and check for ticks.
Plus Maks says it keeps him cooler during gymnastics class. He loves his class and is doing so well. He is doing amazing flips on the trampoloine and into the pit. It is alot of fun watching him.
Alek attended his first Phillies baseball academy for one week. He loved it and what an amazing experience for him. He learned so much and he discovered how much he loves being a catcher.
Thursday of that week, they had their awards ceremony. It was led by everyone's favorite, The Phanatic! He is so fun and crazy, the kids loved it--parents too!
Best yet, Alek won the coaches award for his team, The Hammerheads! The award was for being a leader, giving 100%, showing support for teammates, and never losing his cool. As the certificate said: In victory and defeat, you have displayed the qualities of the ultimate Phillies camper!
We were so proud of him and so excited to be there to see him accept his award from the Phanatic!
He also won the Homerun derby that day--he left that week happy and with a ton of confidence. They also give you a scouting report for your child, what their strengths and weaknesses are, what are their best positions and what to focus on. Friday of that week, they took all the campers to Citizen's Bank Park. They got a behind the scenes tour, they met the first base coach. They were supposed to have a catch on the field, but it was rainy. But the best news, is Alek was able to meet Carlos Ruiz, Chooooch! He asked him what it took to be a great catcher, and he said, Hustle and practice!
Alek was so happy that week. It ended with him and daddy having a weekend alone and heading to the Phillies game on Saturday.
Maky and I headed south. Maks stayed with Pop and Noni at the beach house and I hit Lewes for a long overdue girls weekend. It was fun to catch up with some friends, read my book, play with A's little man, Chaney. I miss that age so much. Maks had a blast having Pop and Noni all to himself. They took him to the Children's museum and Target of course. More legos...
A great weekend was had by all!!
