Summer is flying by, it truly has been a blur with not enough beach time for me!
But the boys are having a great time between camps and fun with friends.
August brought the wedding of my step sister, S. S is a sweetheart and also a nurse who was able to take care of Meem while she was in rehab. Meem only agreed to do have of the stuff because S encouraged her. I have been thankful that she helped Meem so much at the end--she is an awesome nurse.
Anyway, the wedding was fun, good food, good music! It was great to see some relatives and friends I haven't seen in a long time, though it is sad to think we only see these people now at weddings and funerals. I think a reunion might be in order!
My mama looked beautiful and I was glad to get a nice pic of the two of us!
The boys are still enjoying camps and have had some great field trips through the school district camp.
The have been to Lost River Caverns, A bug museum-ewww, the Herrs Chip Factory-where they sampled hot off the oven potato chips--yummo! Their favorite camps though have been at the Sports Performance Center.
This is where we had Alek's bday party and where Maks takes gymnastics. The kids love it, who wouldn't--playing on all the equipment all day. The counselors are great and the kids are beat when they get home. I am glad we discovered that camp.
Our neighbors got a pool this year and finally had the concrete in, so we had a fun day swimming and playing games. And nothing is more fun than daddy throwing a boy in the air. They love to see how high they can go, what flips and tricks they can try.
Daddy better stay in shape, these kids are getting bigger and heavier, I am sure it is not easy to toss them around.
Maks has provided us with alot of laughs and entertainment all summer. You never know what will come out of this kids mouth and frankly many days it frightens me, yet is fascinating to try and follow what is going through that brain of his!
Any of my little baby that was left in him has officially departed this summer. He has grown up so much, it is exciting to watch yet so sad too. My baby is heading to 1st grade.
August will bring Alek's 8th family day, hard to believe it was 8 years ago we were making our first trips to Russia. What a ride it has been.
Ever since Phillies baseball camp, Alek has been into catching, so he has been putting on the gear and practicing with daddy. Fall baseball starts soon, he is getting excited and pumped for another season and this is the first season he will be in kid pitch. He was drafted to the Tigers and can't wait to pitch and catch.
Maks finished up his first session of gymnastics and seemed to love it all. He did great with the testing and they moved him up quickly to Level II. As I suspected when asked if he wanted to sign up again, he said no. He always does that. So this time I did put my foot down, because I see how much he loved it and how focused he was learning new things, I think it is a great activity for him. He didn't complain and he is actually looking forward to the next session now.
Maks is the comedian, he loves getting a rise out of everyone and nothing gets a good reaction than a great belly flop. Maks has perfected this. We have visions of him as that frat boy, you know the one, belly flops, stupid people tricks, carrying kegs on his shoulders.....Somedays I worry about the future, but thankfully he is so smart, hopefully it all balances itself out!
So now we are counting down the days til our trip to Corolla, can't wait to relax on the sand for a week and hopefully see some horses there.
In the meantime we finished our school supply shopping, with me doing a double take seeing 1st and 3rd grade on the lists.
Please time, slow down a little....
