Well the day came we had been waiting for and I was secretly dreading. My baby was graduating from kindergarten.
The time had gone way too fast.
My sickly little redhead who struggled so much when he arrived home with us at 13months old was now graduating as a bright, funny, amazing, caring, compassionate 6 year old. How far he has come! It is amazing to look back at pics, videos, jounral entries to really see the strides he has made. You are amazing Maky and we are so proud of you!
Maks graduated from LL, the day care kindergarten, where he attended morning classes and then he would take the bus over to GS for pm kindergarten (the public school doesn't do a graduation), so the LL ceremony is extra special for us.
We have been a part of the LL family since July 2005, they have helped get both our boys off to a great start in school. The boys have made amazing friends there and so have we, so we will always be grateful to them. The boys will especially miss Miss Sandy and Miss Beth. When you have to go to work, it is so much easier knowing your children are well cared for and are loved.
We pulled Alek out of school so he could come watch the ceremony. He is a trip heading back into LL, he is so Big Man on Campus. There is a haggle of little girls, who adore him, they chase him, hug him, they always ask me when Alek will come to LL. I dont have a name to them, I am only known as Alek's mom. I seriously hope this isn't a glimpse into our future. Alek was asked to help pass out programs and direct parents and guests to the congregation room for the ceremony. He was so into it, you could tell he thought he was so cool!
Maks was asked to be the flag holder, he was very excited and he took his job very seriously.
Seeing my little man up there, focused, proud and so sure of himself was amazing. He looked so stinkin cute in that cap and gown and a mouth full of missing teeth. The quintesential 6 year old!
The songs were sweet, especially when they signed the alphabet song--I know they all worked hard on that.
Maks was also going to play a piece on the piano. He had been taking lessons at LL once a week for this year and was very serious. His piano teacher was worried at the start of the year when Maks wanted to play, lets just say he is not known for his artistic side. But he took to it immediately and Mr. McG was amazed at his progress. He wont be the next coming of Mozart, but we are so proud of him!!
Maks was anxiously waiting his turn to play. He picked a piece called the Bell Tower, because he liked how it ended, making it sound like a bell gonging.
He was so cute and did so well, very intense. Of course as he finished and took his bow, his cap flew off--that's our Maks!
The video is below for your viewing pleasure!
Maks is officially a grad!
He is so proud of that diploma!
The final song as a kindergartner at LL! I was all teared up at this point!
Proud grad with mommy!
Maky and his daddy, best buds!
They had a pizza luncheon after the ceremony and gave all the kids huge sand buckets filled with goodies. The patriotic hats were a big hit.
It was fun seeing Alek proud of his brother, they are the best!
Couldnt be prouder of these two, they make my heart so happy!!
After school chalk fun!
Maks was very proud of himself, so he made sure we knew it by writing this!
CONGRATS Makadoo!! We love you--you are now on your way to being a big bad 1st grader, but first up, enjoy your first summer at the big kids camp!!
You rock!!
