Everyday is a mom's day, but it is nice to have that one time a year to feel extra special about being a mom.
Motherhood is such a privledge for me and one I hope to not take for granted.
I am so lucky and so blessed to have these little men, they are my miracles.
This Mother's Day was a little different as we did not have our annual picnic at our house. My heart was just not into it with Meem being gone this year and it was hard to just plan ahead for anything.
So we slept in, Kevin bought me a nice coffee from Wawa and I was happy opening my cards and homemade gifts.
Nothing is better than the handmade cards and gifts from the boys. From the beautiful necklace from Alek, the little plant from Maks, the letters (Maks spelled my name Criss and Mother's was spelled Moder's--gotta love it!). Alek made a little hand letter that said, I love you this much and I love you to the moon and back. I just love that they say that back to me-melts my heart.
Afterwards we got ready and drove down to the Mike and C's as C invited us (well me) for Mumu's and mimosa's in the grotto). It was a gorgeous morning and I was looking forward to relaxing in the sun.
We took separate cars as I was going to meet my mom after. On the drive down, Alek said, "mom, I wished Meme a happy mother's day in heaven, I know she heard me". My sunglasses fogged up from the tears. Such a sweet boy. I know she was looking down on all of us that day.
We enjoyed a lovely morning , just the girls, talking, eating and enjoying some mimosa's. It was really nice to not have to cook or clean. The guys took the kids away and went to lunch.
I headed down and picked up my mom and we went to Chesnut Hill. It was a gorgeous sunny day to stroll the avenue. I know this was a hard day for mom, so many emotions, I am glad we were able to just spend time by ourselves. We enjoyed a long leisurely late lunch at Iron Hill, and it was fun to just sit and talk without any interruptions.
While I missed having the party and spending time with all the important women in our lives, it was nice to just have this day be about my mom and me. It was perfect. Thank you Kevin for making it happen!
Of course I come home to everyone in bed by 7:30, Kevin wiped out, boys in mix/matche jammies and still dirty, but they were happy and smiling,so that was good at least. I had to at least wash their face and hands before I put them back to bed. The bore the dirt, bruises and small cuts of a very active boys day out. God knows what goes on when I am not there!
So Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing and wonderful women in my life. Thank you for your love, caring, friendship, guidance and help. Every one of you not only helped me fulfill my dream of motherhood, but you have helped me to be a better person and a better mom and I am forever grateful.
