The long awaited and anticipated party finally arrived! Maks' 6th birthday Halloween/Star Wars party. He had been counting down the days.
The morning of the party he woke up first as usual. When I came downstairs he said, "Mom are you so excited..today is my party!" Seriously he is too cute to resist. The picture above is a classic Maks clothing esemble, it always cracks me up to see what he puts together. So he had his Darth Vadar ski cap and gloves, paired with open toed croc sandle and socks with holes in them and he was outside riding his bike with his hockey helmet (face mask and all) on.
Maks kept asking me hour after hour when was everyone coming, when could he put on his costume. Finally after the thousandth question, it was time to become Darth Vadar, he was totally in character!
Alek on the other hand, decided he was too cool to dress up in his stormtrooper costume. I am guessing it was because all of his girlfriends would be there, KeKe, Leah, Madelyn, and Faith. I think he was a bit nervous to have them all together....we had a long discussion about not becoming a show off once they were all here as he tends to do. 7 1/2 and all ready trying to impress the ladies, Lord help us!
Most of the kiddos did arrive in costume, but Alek and Maks voted Noni best dressed girl, she surprised us all in a crazy witch outfit! Pop showed up in a t-shirt that said, "too lazy to get a costume", and Daddy wore a pin that said "This is my costume"I stuck with a crazy headband.
The kids had a blast running around, riding bikes, scooters, doing pogo sticks. The weather although a bit chilly was nice and sunny, so they could stay outside most of the time. I think Maks was a bit overwhelmed at first as he stuck close to Megs and snugged on the couch. Eventually though he came out of his shell and headed out to romp with the others.
He had a blast opening his presents and was so excited with each action figure, Star Wars character, legos and cars. He even got a headlamp to wear from his buddy Alex. He always tries to wear Alex's at his house. We have had a hard time getting him to turn it off at night. Daddy tried it out and now he wants one!
Another hit of the evening was the Nerf gun war which the dad's instigated. Grammom bought this crazy huge Nerf assault weapon and it spiraled out of control from there, I am still finding nerf bullets in the couch!
It was a great day, Maks had so much fun and he is still talking about his party! The weeks of Maks have come to an end and he is settling into being a 6 year old boy. We reached our goal of $250 dollars in the Change for the Children fundraiser for JCICS. So thanks to everyone who donated and all those who brought all their loose change to the party!
It is greatly appreciated!!
Next up, Halloween!!
