Road Trip!!

On the road again.....The boys headed for a weekend of fun and spoiling at Grandmom and Poppy's and we packed up the car, picked up Granny and JoJo and headed south to see Krissy at school! Bright and early we were on the road. Somewhere past DC we stopped for breakfast and an extra caffiene boost. Hours later somewhere in NC we stopped for a lovely lunch. Granny knows how to do the lunch pit stops! We had yummy sandwiches and even a table cloth for the picnic table! Filled our bellies and back on the road. One short pit stop as I was car sick--I hate long car rides, and then we were off and cruising again.
We met the rest of the gang down there, Jim, LaLa, Krissy and two of the cousins (M and J). It was great to see Krissy and so much fun to hang out with her. First up was the bookstore as we all needed extra gear for the football game the next day. Then we hit a bar for some cocktails and then off to a pep rally. It really was a lot of fun hanging in the college town. Lots of memories and flashbacks to our youth!
After the rally we headed out for a yummy dinner. It was a blast being with everyone, we had a lot of fun and alot of laughs.

Saturday was football and tailgating. We had a great set up and lots of yummy food (Jo's mexican layer dip-which I think I ate half the tray of, LaLa's popcorn, the coffee cake from M, I could go on and on...) and beverages-I stuck with the corona with lime as it was a gorgeous sunny southern day. It was a blast hanging with the college crowd--though we soon rememebered why you do this when you are young and not pushing 40!
Sadly, I had a young guy walk over to our tent, call me maam as he politely asked for sunscreen. Then if maam wasn't bad enough, he asked if I had any kids who went there. NICE!!! Nothing like a boost to the self esteem! I said, Hey do I look old enough to have a kid here? He was obviously embarassed and fumbled. I said, my kids are 6 and 5, but technically I could have a kid here.... Nothing like that kind of conversation to remind you of your age!
The game was a blast, it was fun learning the specific cheers for the team, especially the first down cheer----Pirates......arrrgggghhhhhh. That will be stuck in my head forever!
Props to Granny for tailgating all day, hanging great during the football game and staying up for the Phils--very impressive!!! I think we lost Kevin before Granny?
After the game we headed back to the hotel lobby and watched the tragic Phillies game. What a disappointment, but not enough to ruin the weekend.
It was a great time, so much fun with everyone and loved hanging with Krissy--miss her alot. hopefully next time we can do it with the whole crew, missed Kait, T and Jakey!
Though I think we need to plan a Penn State Road trip next!!
Sunday, I drove home, one pit stop, we were on a mission to get home for Alek's baseball game and we did! Thanks to Granny and Jo for getting up early to accomodate us!
The boys had a blast with Grandmom and Poppy, especially their hike down Valley Green and visiting MeMe. Of course they came home with goodies and new Matchbox cars, because what is a trip to Poppy's house without a new Matchbox car?

Yes, it was truly
a
weekend!!!
