Beach, birthday party, boat and a hot dog ban

It is mid June and I had yet to get to the beach--what is wrong with this picture?!? Oh yea, Alek is now involved in baseball every weekend! So we decided to each take a boy for some one on one time last weekend. Maks and I packed our bags and headed to Pop and Noni's beach. Daddy and Alek stayed home for TBall and a birthday party.
Maks and I had a great time. On saturday we went with Noni to a kids fest fair. It was cute. Maks had a blast, he rode a pony, rode on a pony cart, rode in this kiddie train car, we took a horse and carriage ride and checked out some tractors (we were in southern Delaware, of course there are many tractors!). We also took in a blacksmithing demonstration, not my cup of tea, but it held his attention. After that fun, we headed back to the beach. Sun was still shining, but Maks was not into it. He lasted about a half hour on the beach and really needed a nap.
The weather held out most of the day and then we got a few bits of rain. Maks had a great time with Pop and Noni and we enjoyed our visit.
Back at home Alek had a good TBall game then headed out to shop for a birthday present which mommy forgot to buy. The boys went to Alek's buddy's party and had a great time. Then they went down Mike and C's to hang with them. Alek finally got his sleepover at KeKe's house. They shared her top bunk, he loved it. They all went out for a great breakfast the next morning.
Back at the beach, we were enjoying the raspberry pancakes Noni made for us. Maks had 2 eggs and 3 pancakes. My boy can eat!
We said our good byes until the 4th and headed home as we had an important meeting ahead of us!

The kids and Kevin were finally getting to meet Little Man. The Kirov cuties would meet!
It was a beautiful afternoon. The kids had a blast playing. We toasted the new family, good excuse to break out the champagne! LM was so stinkin cute, just loved watching him toddle around with his chunky legs. It was alot of fun for all of us to be together with our kiddos, been a long time in the making!
Captain Jeff took us on a boat ride and Maks went this time. He informed me as we were on the boat, "mom I not afraid anymore". Jeff was great letting each kiddo take a turn being captain.
We headed back for dinner. Good grillin down by the river!
Maks as usual shoveled it all in. He then got into someone elses plate and most likely shoveled in one too many hot dog pieces so he wouldn't get caught. I saw him walking with his cheeks full and asked him to come over to me. Then I saw him get this look on his face. He was choking. It wasn't good, he was choking badly. I hit his back several times and some pieces came out and I thought that was it, but then he looked up at me with these panicked eyes and I heard him trying to breathe and no air was getting through. I was freaking. I did the heimlech twice and heard some movement and then hit his back and turned him downward and finally a big piece came out. That was so scarey. I was shaking. He was scared, but it didn't last long, he was off playing and looking for dessert. Mommy on the other hand was completely traumatized and I have slept right in two nights. You just keep thinking about all the what ifs. I keep seeing his eyes staring up at me too. Such a horrible feeling. So quite the ending to a nice weekend. Maks, I tell ya, this kid has put more grays on me in 2 1/2 years!!
There is now an official hot dog ban in my house and I am throwing in grapes as well! I really wish we could get him to stop trying to shovel so much food in at once. It is easy when we are eating right with him to remind him to slow down, but at parties, he tends to be the plate clearer and grazer, he finishes up what others leave behind.

Hopefully tonight brings better sleep for me, I sure could use it! Alek finished up TBall tonight with a great game. He played catcher really well, we were impressed and he also had several good plays in the pitcher position. Pop came to the game, so I guess Alek brought his A game for Pop.
Looking forward to the weekend, we have a casino night fundraiser run by Kevin's company on Friday which the kids can come to and then I am headed to Jimmy Buffett saturday. Looking forward to partying in Margaritaville, I definitely need it this week!
