October came to a close with our annual block Halloween party. All the kids were ready with their costumes and all the adults with the food, drink and crafts!
On everyone's mind though was the impending Hurricane Sandy.
We were all glued to our TV's waiting to see if this was going to be as bad as they thought or a bust--which we all hoped for.
Sandy was not kind, but thankfully for us we were spared. The weather started to get bad Monday morning. I ran into work for a few hours, Daddy's company closed down for two days in anticipation of the storm. After hearing a tree crashed and blocked one of our driveways at work, we all left. Monday was spent working from home, watching the weather and news, playing and eating, too much!
The winds really picked up at night and it was crazy seeing our trees bend. Our only chaos was our downspout that came apart on the front porch, but Daddy saved the day and fixed it in the howling winds!
We kept power until around 8pm and then it all went dark. You guys were a little nervous, but finally passed out on the playroom room floor. Thankfully my Kindle Fire had a full charge so I was able to read. Daddy napped and kept checking on sump pump to make sure we didn't need to break out the generator. After a few hours we decided to put the important stuff in the fridge in cooler and ice and left it garage. Our neighbors didn't fair as well, as their basement flooded. Then I watched alot of fire engines head down the street behind us, I texted Liam's mom and she said it was their house! Their oil heater backfired, sparked and filled house with smoke, thankfully they were all ok. It was definitely a hair raising night. We prayed that everyone was safe and we hoped the beach house was doing ok!
Our power came back on at 3am, so we were lucky!! Many in our area inlcuding were out for a week.
The beach house did great , since it hit prior to high tide, so they were spared, but waking up to see the devastation in NJ and NY was heartbreaking. We are so sad to see all that happen and we keep everyone our prayers.
School was closed for a few days and Halloween was postponed. Since most of our group couldnt do Halloween on the rescheduled date, we all decided to walk across MOrris to the next township and a big development. You guys all loved it there, tons of house and lots of candy!!
Alek you look every part the Army Ranger!!
Hitting our house and ringing the door 100 times to irritate daddy!!
Fort fun during Sandy!
Carving your pumpkins, this is the first year you guys did the majority of the work!!
Mommy's special guacamole and the puking pumpkin, I knew my boys would love that!!

Army Ranger and LIzard Man at the Halloween Party. Maks you never keep your mask on--maybe one year you will!!
Maks' favorite craft of the night!!
Climbing as always. If we can't find you we just look up to a tree, car roof, play set, wall.....
More craft fun at the party!!
Sandy dampened the mood but we still managed to have a great Halloween week and way too much left over candy!!
November has now begun and you guys have started counting down to Christmas. Lists have already begun, Alek I love that the first things on your lists are books--thats my boy!! Maks--of course Wii games are the first things on your list, but I love that you asked if you could have "karate" class for Christmas. You crack me up!
Baseball is over and basketball has begun! Alek is on Indiana this year.
You are also taking a speed and agility class at the gym. The first night as I watched I thought, man this is tough, he may not want to return--but you did and you like and you told us it will help you alot in basketball.
Maks you are back in gymnastics and doing well, the split you can do, well it frankly freaks me out alittle bit how flexible you are. And your strength--you are amazing!! You make me laugh as you ask for different things to try--can you sign me up for bowling, can you sign me up for dodge ball. You truly march to your own beat!
We had teacher conferences last week and I walked out with a smile ear to ear from both your classrooms.
We are so proud of you guys!! Alek, Mrs. P told us how engaging you are and how you always raise your hand and how much you love science and experiments. She said how well you were doing in math and even though she knows you dont like writing too much you work hard at all and you are very creative. She said you are very helpful to others in class and you love to read and go to the library. You are also loving your violin lessons at school. You do look pretty cute holding that violin!! We are so happy this is a better year for you and no bully to deal with!! Keep up the amazing work!
Maks--Mrs. M just gushed and laughed when talking about you. She said, I can't believe how different you are Alek are. She was raving about how smart you are and how well you remember facts and even small minute things that she may have said weeks prior. She said her teacher's aide and student teachers all say the same thing at how smart you are. She said there really is no arguing with you, because you are always right. You will make a great lawyer! She said you are so advanced with math and are so creative, she loves how you think outside the box. It is fun watching you read, write and create your own little cartoons and games. You are an awesome kiddo!! Keep it up, we love you!
So far so good on this school year!! Keep up the good work boys!!
Next up in Thanksgiving and we look forward to a nice relaxing dinner here at home and a short break from school and work, befor the chaos of Christmas ensues!!
