Memorial Day--the unofficial start of summer and it always seems to be hot and humid around here! That's ok, I will take it anyday over snow and ice!
Just like every year we headed to JoJo's for the annual parade. This year though, we were all packed up and ready to hit the road for the long drive to Maine. Right after the parade we were headed to Bethel/Newry, Maine for our friend's wedding.
But first we couldn't break tradition, so it was off to the parade we went. I forget to get the boys patriotic shirts in the midst of my trip planning and packing, so Phillies shirts did the trick! The boys were happy to see Granny, JoJo and of course their gaals, Keke, Ry and Makenzie.
To add to the extra excitement, TT was coming to Maine with us as well, to help out with the kiddos. I know she was thrilled to be riding in between the boys for 9 hours!!
Of course since we were on a schedule, the parade started late. Kevin pointed this out several times. But he was appeased when his favorite, the Pipe Bands came by. Nothing brightens his day like some good bagpipe music!
Next up was the Mummers. This made me think of Meem. She loved the mummers. She loved watching the parade on New Years and you could always count on her to do a Mummer's strut whenever she heard any string band music. Seeing the Mummers and hearing their music made me smile thinking of her. I miss her so much everyday.
We enjoyed some yummy breakfast, good company, laughs and a fun parade, remembering what Memorial Day is truly about. I love this picture of Alek saluting the flag.
Then we were off, starting the long drive to get this amazing house, where we would be staying for the week! We were all pumped and ready to get there and so excited to be celebrating Steve and Brandy's wedding!! Now, if we could just make that 9 hours fly by.......
