We are in the middle of winter, yet it has felt like early Spring for most of it. I am not complaining at all!! Perfect for our guys, outside more, burning off all that energy. Our exciting event in February was that Kevin finished the basketball net. For thos of you who know Kevin, a regular portable basketball set wouldn't do. Equipment was needed, a hole had to be dug...
A welder was consulted and used, the backboard and rim were thoroughly researched and ordered. Of course the first one came shattered! Finally it was complete and it has been a hit. The boys are out there everyday. I have been schooling them in HORSE until yesterday, my days of domination are over, they have caught on to my weak shots! It is alot of fun and anything that lets these guy expend energy works for me!
They both signed up for the IronKids triathlon club at school as well. So they are "training" for that, though we have yet to get to the pool to practice. The event is in June, so plenty of time. I think they have the biking and running down pat!
Our friend Mike came in to visit and go the Flyers/Rangers game with us. We had alot of fun, even though the Flyers lost. Kevin's company seats are right by where the Flyers come in, so good spot to get a puck or two. Maks was able to snag one during warmups and since everything is a competition, Alek wouldn't be happy until he got one! They enjoyed the game, well Maks was really just there for the food, but he hung in there!
At the end, Alek was leaning over the railing hoping to get a high five or two from some players, but they all kept their heads down and ignored them, which of course irritated me to no extent! Finally, Danny Briere was one of the last guys off the ice and he handed Alek a puck right from the ice. So awesome-he was so happy! Now that was a class act--the younger guys should learn from Briere! It was a good day and topped off by the boys hanging with Poppy and Grammom while Kevin, Mike and I hit Main street for some food and beverages.
Basketball is also winding up for Alek. His team has taking a beating in their last few games playing the better teams, so there have been tears and frustration, Kevin will be fine though! Just kidding! It has been fun to watch the improvement and to see how each week they are grasping a little more understanding of the game.
Alek spent President;s Day at a basketball camp with his buddy and had a blast. Both boys are waiting for baseball to start which I am too, that means spring is here!

Both boys are waiting for baseball to start which I am too, that means spring is here!Maks has taken to doing handstands and handwalking constantly. Click here for an example. He can't walk into a room without doing a handstand. If we are watching a movie he is doing a handstand. If you are reading to him, he is doing a handstand. I have said it before, this kid is freakishly strong!
Boys are so fun and fascinating and what I have learned:
They dont care if your house is a mess since they are creating it.
A tube of toothpaste could last 3 days if you dont monitor it, it seems most of it gets stuck to the sink.
Dont get me started on "sword" fighting (moms with multiple boys will know what I am talking about)--to sum it up you clean their bathroom alot!
They will wear dirty underwear and not even notice, since you ask them to clean up their clothes and the dirty stuff goes back in their drawers.
Socks are found everywhere, stuffed in couch cusions and under the couch.
Everything is a competition and a race.
If there is a small puddle of water and plenty of room to walk around it, Maks will walk through it and be surprised that he didn't see it.
Never spend more than $10 on jeans, in a week they will have holes in at least one of the knees.
If you put a nice shirt on them and tell them to be careful, they will surely have a stain on it in less than 5 minutes!
Lots of blankets lead to great forts!
Any sort of bodily function or noise brings about the biggest laughter.
All boys love to perfect the art of burping and farting and they love to discuss it amongst their friends.
Injuries, cuts, scrapes, broken bones are war wounds to be proud of, apparently we are not that cool because no one has had a cast yet.
You can be having the worst day and yet they always know how to put a smile on your face.
Boys love their mamas and always will. They love snugging and hugging.
They make me laugh, they make me wince and hold my breath as they race on their bikes, climb trees or test the limits of the playground equipment. I marvel at their antics, their intelligence and their sensitivity (under that tough and dirty exterior). They amaze me and make my life interesting!

great post - they are so cute and look so happy. Love the toothpaste one. and the "puddle of water" - our boy has taken to making his own puddles, esp when i am putting the baby down for a nap. very creative! and the sock one for sure. ashton of course not good w/ that one and has eaten more socks than any dog i know thanks to his sockless wonder brother. your boys are lucky to have such an open minded "get muddy" mom!
