IU update, great news!

So Maks speech eval at the IU was Friday. I went in armed and ready to help him continue services. Maks was in rare form that morning and definitely not focusing, which is an issue (but it also was for Alek at this age, so while we watch it, I haven't stressed over it). So he would answer a question or two, then climb over a chair, grab some toys, answer another question with prompting, walk away. I smiled inside as I saw her scribbling down additional notes.
After it was over, we chatted, she asked me my concerns which I gave her. One thing I found comical and frightening is she had no background info on him, despite all the paperwork I filled out on his history. She had no idea he was adopted from Russia, no idea his medical, prenatal and birth history.
As soon as I filled her in, she said they would continue speech (with a different therapist, thankfully), give us an education evaluation and OT since he has trouble focusing. SO I went in, worried they would take away speech and came out with extra! We are very happy, so we are waiting for him to get assigned a case worker. We have the education eval set up and his IEP will be in March.
I am excited and hopeful that by the end of the year we will see huge changes for Maks!!

Thanks to Amy for all her input, I appreciate being armed with the additional knowledge and lingo!
