Our karate kid

Alek has been taking a "karate" class at the Little Gym, called chopsticks. He loved it and had done so well and it was great seeing how well he was able to focus and listen as the weeks went on. I liked that it was not full on serious karate, but combined it with gymnastic activities and tai chi.

Thursday was show day and the kids showed off their catas and their tai chi routine. It was so cute. Alek was nervous and "a little shy" as he says perfoming in front of everyone (there was only 4 kids in the class, he was the youngest). Afterwards, they all got Olympic styled medals and got to stand up on the "medal stand" next to the torch and receive their medal. The teacher spoke about each child which was so nice. It was really neat and you could see how proud of himself Alek was. We were so proud of him. I loved seeing the concentration and excitement on his face throughout each class. It was a great experience.

Next week he starts the sports class there and he was happy to hear Miss Gretchen will also teach that. Maks is also going to be taking his first class, by himself, a gymnastics class, I cannot wait to see that!!
